Most of my department got eliminated, including me. I can't say I'm really surprised since half my projects were canceled on Friday. Man, I actually liked working here.

Today is my son's birthday, so it's not a total loss. I'm still crushed.

I've kinda been there, huge state budget cuts while still an untenured employee. Best of luck with moving on. Private consulting as a graphics genius? :-) As you say, family is the most important thing of course! in the end.

I'm so very sorry to hear this.

Since we are both in the land of unemployment this week we should go out and have a pity party of ice cream or something tomorrow or Friday.

The good news is you can file for unemployment online now and you don't have to go way out west on Grand Ave to file in person (which sucked)

Be forewarned, it takes like an hour to fill out and they ask you retarded questions like how many days have you worked since April 2004 excluding sick and vacation days...wtf? How do I know that?
